Since 1913, Lings have opereated in the Automotive industry and have gained much recognition for their achievements.
The 2018 British Dealer News Motorcycle Industry Awards marked a landmark occasion for Lings Motor Group. Its owners, Anne, David and Chris Jary, were honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, marking over 60 years in the motor trade.
Accepting the award, Anne made a special point of thanking all the staff, past and present, who have helped the company – still owned and run by the Jary family – grow from a single motorcycle dealership to a multi-franchise car and motorcycle motor group with branches across East Anglia.
Established over 100 years ago as a blacksmith & wheelwright, the business later known as PFK Ling Limited, has remained in the same family for its entire existence. Anne, great-granddaughter of founder William Ling, later met and married David Jary. Their son Christopher now runs the business as Managing Director, alongside fellow director Matthew Barwick.

The BDN Lifetime Achievement Award went to David, Anne & Chis Jary of Lings Motor Group.
Lings Triumph are founding Triumph dealers, and have operated with Triumph Motorcycles since 1991. Over the years, Lings have received much recognition of outstanding overall performance in sales, marketing, clothing, accessories and customer satisfaction. The Lings Triumph team have received many awards for their hardwork - a mark of the industry-wide high regard the team enjoys.

Lings received special recognition from Honda Motorcycles to mark decades of service to the brand. The award, one of only a handful ever given out in the Europe and celebrating what Honda called its outstanding contribution to motorcycling, was presented to Managing Director Chris Jary, Harleston dealer principal Mark Powell and Ipswich dealer principal Mark Gardiner at a special ceremony at the national Honda dealer conference.
Lings Honda Ipswich was also given special recognition and an individual award marking its own 50 years of service to Honda Motorcycles. Gardiner said: “It’s a huge achievement to have worked in partnership with Honda for 50 years and I am proud and delighted to collect this award on behalf of Lings Ipswich.”
Lings received the Outstanding Achievement Award at Car Dealer Magazine’s Used Car Awards 2014, hosted by TV presenter Mike Brewer.
The award, sponsored by Sun Motors, was recognition of the way the team has fought back from adversity, after the dealership was destroyed by a flood in December 2013. A huge tidal surge devastated the place, causing more than £2.5m worth of damage, with the large showroom ruined and 170 vehicles written off.
Colin Channon, editor of Car Dealer Magazine, said: “Lings is a worthy winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award. Twelve months on from the devastating floods and the dealership is flourishing. They’ve added the Mitsubishi franchise and things are going from strength to strength. The fact they were able to get back on their feet so quickly is an incredible testament to the hard work, dedication and passion the team demonstrated in the most adverse of circumstances.”
